First Week of Field Experience

This week flew by so quick! I am currently placed in a first grade classroom with 24 students. Since I work with kids daily I am already use to having kids always talking to you and asking questions. The classroom isn't completely decked out with a lot of technology, we actually only have a smart board, an overhead, and computer for the teachers use. My CT uses the smart board daily during morning meeting and when showing students worksheets on the overhead. One website that my teacher uses multiple times everyday is called Go Noodle (https://www.gonoodle.com). This website has tons of dances and other games for students to dance along with. I find this a great website because we all know kids can't sit and listen for very long, so whenever my CT thinks the students are looking a little antsy she has them all do this! It's a great way to burn off the extra energy and get the kids moving!

I hope everyone has a great second week of field experience!

  2. My classroom has quite a number of technology options but my cooperating teacher only brings it out when need be. I think this allows students to focus on the teacher more instead of the fancy technology in the classroom. My cooperating teacher uses a small object that allows something to be shown on the smart board but I am not quite sure what the name of the object is called. It is almost like a lamp that can be place over an object so that the class can see the worksheet has it is being explained.
My cooperating teacher also uses a lot of videos in the classroom. this is usually at the beginning of the day. it is used for the students to practice their alphabet and numbers. it has definitely had a great impact on the learning in the classroom.
